Just felt like learning some new stuff and then turned to XHTML/CSS and tried to figure out how to create valid XHTML 1.0, but see for yourself:

Valid XHTML 1.0!

After diving into the materials and exploring "modern" web design for some hours, I am quite pleased how things evolved (especially on the browser side) during the last years (last time I did something similar was three years ago).

I started by reading "designing with web standars" by Jeffrey Zeldman, but was soon disappointed by the writing style, perhaps I got too addicted to specifications and a more formal style of writing. Additional, I am not at all interested in the historical evolution of HTML and stories about Netscape 4 and the year 1997 when all I want is to learn and apply 'new' technologies.

Then I just switched to doing it by looking at different sites and examples of CSS and everything made sense.

Best,
Thomas Holl
